Global Green Cherry is a UK based Company created with the aim of developing a long-term, profitable agricultural land
holding and management business based upon sweet cherry farming.
Global Green Cherry is intending to exploit agricultural land to be acquired via the
exercise of an option, via the Bulgarian SPV in
Bulgaria. We have already secured the Land Option over a substantial area of Farming Land
with the stated aim of creating shareholder value by
growing cherries on a professional scale.
Since incorporation, we have engaged
directors and management staff, with the intention
of fulfilling its aims for the business. The Land
Option has been acquired by the Company and
it has also entered into the Farm Management
Agreement with the Farming Operator.
Outline Business Strategy
Our Directors believe that cherries are one of the
most attractive fruit varieties to grow as:
• they have on average attracted retail prices in
excess of 10.00 Euros per kilo in June and July
• they are a consumer "must have". We
believe that many retail customers are attracted
to "impulse buy" cherries to a larger extent than
• The market is mature and the most sought after
and commercially best performing varieties have
• The cherry growing season is outside the period of
frost and/or other weather hazards.
• Sophisticated handling and transport systems
mitigate product perishability.
There are numerous commercially variable berry
varieties to choose from. The Bulgarian SPV will only
produce a few of them. It has been established that
it is the relatively big, sweet and burgundy coloured
cherry varieties that can be offered to the market
early in the season, that mostly attract customers
and sell best. This is what The Bulgarian SPV will be
Modern farming technology also provides different
varieties which ripen and are ready for market at
different times. The cherry season is only in the
summer months The Bulgarian SPV will look to grow
varieties ready for sale in May and June and not so
many for the later months in the season.
By planting varieties that ripen at different times the
Directors believe that this will save costs in the use
of expensive cooling (storage) facilities. GGCherry
will, in the packaging plant, also have access to
cold storage but, by having new berries ripening
throughout the season due to different varieties, the
need for huge cooling facilities is not present.
The Advantage of a New Plantation
The Directors believe that, due to the ideal sweet
cherry growing conditions offered by the land
around the Black Sea, there is a real opportunity
to set up a new plantation. In the opinion of the
Directors, some of the main advantages for starting
up a new and fresh orchard are:
• A disease free environment with plants precisely
planted for the soil conditions.
• A variety mix precisely designed for the
• Full control over plant age and residual production
• Optimal planting pattern allowing for most
efficient harvest/picking procedures.
Bulgaria is attractive because:
• Eastern Europe presents ideal sweet cherry
growing sites, particularly around the Black Sea.
The Land Option is over farmland located near to
the Black Sea coast and is easy to cultivate.
• Farmland is much less expensive to buy in
Bulgaria than most of Europe making the return
on investment potentially much higher than if the
production was placed in the UK, Germany or
• Qualified labour can be readily found in Bulgaria
for a cost averaging around 1/5 of what a similarly qualified worker would be paid in Western Europe.
• Generally, Bulgarian farmland investment is
potentially attractive and has historically achieved
returns that out-compete many other traditional
